Does Your Pet Need A Therapist?
Written By Stacey Cohan - Channel 9 News
It's a big deal when someone you love is struggling with emotional problems.
Luckily for Ben and Jessica Simon, there is a therapist who makes house calls.
The patients name is Bourbon. He is a mixed breed mutt plucked out of New Orleans after surviving solo for three weeks following Hurricane Katrina.
He's loyal to his new family, but mistrustful of strangers and sometimes nips at house guests.
That's where Yody Blass comes in. She's an animal behaviorist. But her work is as much with owners as their pets.
Other rescued animals like Bourbon can have similar issues. But Blass also gets plenty of calls from owners with pedigreed pooches.
Bourbon may not be ready for a party the Simon's are planning this week. But with time and training, the therapist believes they'll have Bourbon's problems licked.
Pet behavior therapy costs can vary. Yody Blass says the average client spends between $200 and $500.
